Army Open House 2009 Highlights
Our World This meaningful and heart warming station will articulate the purpose of National Service, showcasing the Army’s intimate connection with our lives, culture and history. It will also highlight the Army’s continual efforts to engage and develop our people.
Mission World With its various realistic and interactive mock-ups, Mission World will provide visitors with an insight into the wide range of operations and missions that the SAF has undertaken.
Combat World Combat World brings the battlefield to you – giving you the opportunity to experience what it is like at the frontlines! Using realistic 3D modeling, it offers a simulated battlefield experience – then go out and come up close to the actual equipment and participate in war games!
Battle World Back by popular demand, Battle World allows you to rush across the rugged terrain in the Army’s platforms, locate and engage enemies, and partake in a combined arms attack! This is also an ideal opportunity to be photographed with these vehicles!
The Combat Ride Safari and Live Firing Safari are both open from 10am to 6pm daily. Last ride starts at 5pm, each ride lasts about 45 minutes.
Action World Exciting shows will be held across the Leaders Square! Ranging from heart-stopping tactical demonstrations to light-hearted shows, these performances will captivate the crowds. Watch in suspense as our soldiers run through their paces, demonstrating how they defend our nation in peacetime and in war, and cheer for our award winning Red Lions parachute team, applaud the Military Police and Military Band and see our Canine Unit – our mens’ best friends!
Opening these shows will be DJs from SAFRA Radio (POWER 98 and JIA 88.3 FM) and the MDC Combo Band and Song & Dance performers. Photo-opportunities will be given after every show to allow audience to capture this moment in time!
Future World This exhibition will feature how futuristic research and development can be harnessed by the SAF. It will convey the message that science and technology will continue to be a force multiplier in the SAF – allowing each and every solider to contribute more to our nation.
Fun World What better way to take a break than having a carnival? As its name suggests, Fun World aims to add a festive atmosphere to AOH 09 with stage performances, family oriented Food and Beverage outlets and fun-fair games that cater to all age groups.
Your don’t have to go all the way to the Fun World and interrupt your tour of the other Worlds – family corners are conveniently located throughout the various Worlds to give visitors a chance to rest their feet and sit back and relax with a cold drink!
