Leveraging on new social media platforms and taking advantage of the popularity of computer gaming, the National Environment Agency (NEA) has developed an internet-based game, termed “Operation M.A.C.E” (Monster Annihilation and Control Enforcement).

This is a first-of-its-kind outreach programme that promotes dengue awareness among the young and the internet savvy. operation-mace

Operation M.A.C.E was launched today at the annual Clean & Green Singapore (CGS) Schools’ Carnival by Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Dr Amy Khor.

Wireless@SG Registration & Login

by Rocky on September 1, 2009

in Internet

Wireless@SG provides free wireless internet access at hotspots around Singapore which also comes with an automatic log-in feature by SSA (Seamless and Secure Access).

SSA feature is being progressively deployed to all Wireless@SG hotspots around Singapore and full deployment can be expected by September 2010. The automatic service requires a new Wireless@SG Connect software that has to be downloaded and installed on Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices or notebooks.

Wireless@SG Connect

Wireless@SG Connect offers personalized services and applications such as a Wireless@SG hotspot finder.

Users can easily configure their Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices or notebooks to make use of this new feature by downloading and installing the new Wireless@SG Connect software or by following the instructions available from the respective Wireless@SG operator websites (iCELL, M1 and SingTel). Through Wireless@SG Connect, users will find a suite of personalised services and applications such as a Wireless@SG hotspot finder.

Faster and Automatic Log-ins! Download the Wireless@SG Connect software now to configure your device for SSA and access a variety of Wireless@SG applications and services!

Wireless@SG is a wireless broadband program developed by IDA as part of its Next Generation National Infocomm Infrastructure initiative. It is run by three local wireless operators – iCELL Network, M1 and SingTel. Users can enjoy free, both indoor and outdoor seamless wireless broadband access with speeds of up to 1 Mbps at public areas.

You can get a speed boost of up to 1Mbps (from the previous 512Kbps) and come January next year, you will enjoy a seamless log-in process – a welcome improvement to the countless users who have had problems logging in on-site.

Launched in December 2006, Wireless@SG covers cafes, libraries and other public places and has jumpstarted the previously stagnant broadband scene in Singapore, leading to cheaper and more varied services in the past three years. There are now 7,500 Wireless@SG hotspots islandwide and 1.3 million subscribers.

Wireless@SG Registration & Login

To connect to the Wireless@SG wireless broadband network, a user just needs a WiFi-enabled device, a web browser, and a registered Wireless@SG account. With this registered account, the user is able to roam within any of Wireless@SG’s coverage areas, regardless of the operators’ network.

To start enjoying free access to Wireless@SG, sign up with any of the three Wireless@SG operators online or via Customer Service Centres.

Log onto any of the three operators’ websites and complete an online registration form. Alternatively, they can click on the ‘New User Sign Up’ link found on the Wireless@SG log-in page when they select the Wireless@SG network at the coverage areas. The account will be activated immediately and a password sent to them via SMS.

Those without mobile phones or online access can visit any of the operators’ customer service centres to register and collect their passwords. Users can also check with their operator of choice for other registration methods. Getting Connected to Wireless@SG

via NetworkWorld,

Singaporean authorities are studying a law that would cut off the Internet access of users who receive three warnings to stop downloading pirated content, the Straits Times newspaper reported.

This is the ‘three strikes’ anti-piracy law which has already been proposed in several countries and implemented in South Korea. Is Singapore going to pass the “three strickes” law? How do you feel about it? Share in the comments please.
