East Coats Park: Recreation for All

With a total land size of 185-hectares, and a scenic coastline that stretches over 15 km, East Coast Park is one of Singapore’s most treasured urban getaways (and my personal favorite).

Themed “Recreation for All”, East Coast Park offers an exciting diversity of sporting, dinning and recreational activities catering to various segments of the public. Bowling alleys, volleyball courts, East Coats Park chalets, restaurants and a hawker centre can all be found in this park. Find out camping permits booking here.

Come to the park during weekends, sit under the swaying coconut palms, Casuarinas and Ketapangs, and enjoy having your picnics with your families or friends. Sit back and let the inviting waves and fresh perennial sea breeze provide you with an invigorating relief to the stifling city heat and humidity.

For those looking for action, East Coast Park also offers a myriad of sporting opportunities such as cycling, in-line skating, cable skiing and water sporting activities as well as a Xtreme SkatePark for action sports enthusiasts to hone their techniques. In the evenings, bring your families and friends down for a barbecue or indulge in sumptuous cuisines at the East Coast Seafood Centre.

Finally, East Coast Park has been divided into different zones according to the existing attributes of each area. In the future, businesses offering similar activities will be located within close proximity in each zone to create a variety of diverse lifestyle clusters along East Coast Park.

East Coast Seafood Centre

The East Coast Seafood Centre was opened at the same time as the East Coast Park, with eight restaurants serving seafood. Its initial name was known as UDMC Seafood Centre, which was later changed in 2000 to its current name.

Local favourites such as chilli crab, black pepper crab and mee goreng can be found there. In 2005, the Seafood Centre was upgraded to give it a modernised look, and better facilities. Many of the features were revamped, and a number of old tenants vacated for new tenants to take their place.

The Seafood Centre has become a popular dining spot for tourists and locals alike, with many of the establishments being fully booked on most evenings.

How to Get to East Coast Park

Take a taxi from Orchard Road, or take SBS Transit bus 16 and alight at Marine Terrace. Then use the underpass to cross the ECP expressway. Or take bus 401 to East Coast Park Service Road (Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays only).

• Service 401 to East Coast Park Service Road (Sundays and Public Holidays only).
• Services 16, 155, 196 to Marine Crescent or Marine Terrace and walk across the underpasses or overhead bridge.
• Service 36 (from Changi International Airport) to City; alight at Carpark F3, outside Marine Parade
• Services 16, 31, 36, 55, 76, 135, 155, 196, 197 and 853 to Marine Parade Road
