A reader recently sent in a request asking for tips on how to write a good composition. I’m here to share some knowledge on writing; leave your thoughts at the comment section.
What Makes A Good Composition
Before we can write a good composition, we need to understand what makes a good composition.
- Understand the topic. Every composition needs a clear topic. If you are free to choose one topic, make sure you choose one that you are knowledgeable of. Be clear about the purpose you want to communicate.
- Organization. Make sure the composition is well planned. Is it going to be a narrative or descriptive composition? Here is an article you can refer to.
- Substance. Is the idea original, interesting and convincing?
- Grammar. Are the spellings and punctuations correctly used?

- Short story
- Poetry
- Write an outline first.
- Introduction
- Body
- Conclusion
- Write the composition according to the outline. If you are writing on a computer, make sure you keep on writing; don’t stop for formatting or grammar checking yet.
- Proofread. Revise the composition to make it more expressive, vivid, and clear. And, check for speclling and grammar mistakes.
- Formatting. If you write with a computer, make sure you format it properly.
