How to write a good composition

A reader recently sent in a request asking for tips on how to write a good composition. I’m here to share some knowledge on writing; leave your thoughts at the comment section.

What Makes A Good Composition

Before we can write a good composition, we need to understand what makes a good composition.

1. Understand the topic. Every composition needs a clear topic. If you are free to choose one topic, make sure you choose one that you are knowledgeable of. Be clear about the purpose you want to communicate.
2. Organization. Make sure the composition is well planned. Is it going to be a narrative or descriptive composition? Here is an article you can refer to.
3. Substance. Is the idea original, interesting and convincing?
4. Grammar. Are the spellings and punctuations correctly used?

1. Choose the topic.
   1. Essay
   2. Personal narrative
   3. Play
   4. Short story
   5. Poetry
2. Write an outline first.
   1. Introduction
   2. Body
   3. Conclusion
3. Write the composition according to the outline. If you are writing on a computer, make sure you keep on writing; don’t stop for formatting or grammar checking yet.
4. Proofread. Revise the composition to make it more expressive, vivid, and clear. And, check for speclling and grammar mistakes.
5. Formatting. If you write with a computer, make sure you format it properly.
