A piece of ST news caught my attention, “3,821 caught in first six months, up from 2,070 in same period last year”. I think you’d like to hear about the “fine” part, “Jaywalkers can be fined $20 on the spot. If charged and convicted in court, they may be fined up to $1,000 and face a jail term of up to three months.”
It is an offence for pedestrians to walk across bus parking areas at interchanges and terminals.
Pedestrians who jaywalk at bus parking areas can be fined up to $500. They may also be charged in court, where they face up to a maximum fine of $1,000 and/or 3-months imprisonment. For the second and subsequent offences, the offenders may be liable to a maximum fine of $2,000 and/or six months jail.
Many accidents involve jaywalkers; for your own safety and others, don’t JAYWALK!
