The Subaru Challenge is back with a vengeance… this time, Face Off will see Singaporeans pitting their endurance and tolerance levels against contenders from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, China, Taiwan and Indonesia!
400 contestants will once again battle it out in Subaru Challenge 2009 and the last man or woman standing will take home the ultimate prize of a Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan 2.5MT worth $81,000 (without COE). The current record of 81 hours and 32 minutes is held by the 2008 winner, George Lee, a Singaporean. Will the winner come from the 320 Singaporeans used to Singapore’s unpredictable weather of sun, rain and more sun or will the car be driven away by the first non-local contestant… stay tuned to find out!
This year’s Subaru Challenge will kick off on Saturday 31 October at Ngee Ann City. Tune in to MediaCorp radio stations Gold 90.5FM, Class 95FM and 987FM for more details on the challenge.

Update (Nov 3, 2009) – Subaru Challenge 2009 Day 4: As at 8am this morning, only 11 contestants, 10 Singaporeans (3 women) and one Thai man, remained standing with 19 having dropped out. Who will drive away with the $81,000 prize? Comment for updates.

Subaru Challenge 2009 has got a winner! A 40-year-old Singaporean has won the MediaCorp Subaru Impreza WRX Challenge after four days of intense competition.
After 72 hours of braving the elements, it was down to 3 Singaporeans and one Thai – Yeo Shu Qing who turned 25 on Tuesday, 23-year-old Santozkumar Poonsolai, 40-year-old Mohd Anuar, and Thai contestant Samach Tepsen.
“First thing I need to do is go to the toilet because I don’t feel good! And then take a nap,” said Mohd Anuar, winner of this year’s MediaCorp Subaru Impreza WRX Challenge.
