“Let others talk” strategy: Remember how a million dollar deal was done without a word by the salesman?

Three of the biggest fabric companies were given 15 minutes to present to the largest automobile maker to prove why they were the best. On the day, Robert, sales super-star lost his voice due to cold! He walked into the room where the top management was waiting to make the final call. Robert wrote on a piece of paper – ‘Gentlemen, I have lost my voice’.

The President said ‘OK, then I will do the talking for you’ and initiated a whole discussion about the product. All Robert did was to nod and agree. Robert’s company won the contract for 1.6 million dollars.

This week, let’s catch ourselves talking non-stop in sales meetings and remember to let others talk.
