Remember the story of the boss with a goose that laid golden eggs?
One day, a man discovered in his goose’s nest a glittering golden egg! Day after day, he awakens to find another golden egg. He becomes a wealthy boss, but also a greedy one. Eager for more gold, he started to push the goose to produce bigger golden eggs and cut-costs on goose feed and housing. For a while the profits improved, but the goose became weaker. So the boss decided to just kill it – thinking that he will cut open the goose and get all the eggs out, once for all. But much to his dismay, he found no gold inside the dead goose and now his goose was gone too!
Effectiveness lies in the balance of Results (golden eggs) and Caring for Result Producers (goose). Without golden eggs, there is no need for the goose. However, neglecting the goose will eventually cause the loss of golden eggs too. The goose can be your employees, your car, your body, your partner or even your investments, which give returns.
This week, let’s remember to balance, R-CR, Results vs. Caring for Result producers.
