We don’t have office 2007 installed in almost all computers in my company. But, I did receive some docx, xlsx, and pptx files (office 2007 format). This post shows how I managed to open those office 2007 files without upgrading from office 2003.
If you can’t open pptx or docx (office 2007) files, you can install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. You will be able open, edit, save, and create files using the Open XML Formats new to the 2007 Microsoft Office system.
If it doesn’t work (actually it some times didn’t work for me), you can install these softwares:
- word viewer: to open Word 2007 (docx) files
- Excel viewer: to open Excel 2007 (xlsx) files
- PowerPoint Viewer 2007: to open PowerPoint 2007 (pptx) files
You can also download a 60 day trial of office 2007 here.
