Remember the story of A.G.Lafley almost left P&G after 5 years but he stuck out and became CEO?
Steve, his boss, tore up Lafley’s resignation letter. He asked him to take a week off and meet him every night for dinner. Over dinners, Steve dug in and found it was the stifling bureaucracy that was troubling Lafley. He said – ”Lafley, You’re running away. You don’t have the guts to stay and change it. You’ll run from the next job too.’ That really made Lafley tick. He decided to stick-it-out and set his mind on changing things. In 2000, A.G.Lafley rose to become the Chairman and CEO of P&G.
This week, let’s remember that hurdles are only put in front of us to test how much we want what we are aiming for.
