If you are a Singapore citizen, you don’t need a visa traveling to many foreign countries with your Singapore passport; but not all. How do you know whether the visa requirement of any country you’d like to visit?

Well, you can ask friends and travel agencies; or, you can simply check out this information at MFA‘s website.

How to Change IC (NRIC) Address

If you move your house or for whatever reason your Singapore residential address is changed, you MUST update the address on your IC with the government (if you are a resident).

Yes, MUST. Under the National Registration Act, an Identity Card (IC) holder (Singapore citizen and Singapore PR) is required to report his/her change of residential address within 28 days.

Participating government agencies and statutory boards (PDF) will then be informed of the change in address through the OSCARS.

How to Update Your Singapore IC Address

You simply need to go to ICA Building, Level 3 Citizen Services Centre or any of the Neighbourhood Police Posts/Centres to update the change of address in your Identity Card (IC) who will then verify the information on his print-out with your personal particulars against the documents produced (check out the acceptable documents below).

A sticker showing the new address would then be printed and pasted onto your existing IC.

Acceptable Documents for IC Address Verification

  • Telecommunication / Internet bill
  • Service and Conservancy bill from town council
  • Utilities bill from Singapore Power
  • Cable TV bill
  • Credit Card / Bank statement
  • Insurance bill / statement / letter
  • Tenancy agreement for residence
  • Bill / statement / letter from HDB
  • Bill / statement / letter from IRAS (e.g. Income Tax, Property Tax, etc)
  • Bill / letter from LTA (e.g. Road Tax)
  • TV / Radio license bill
  • Statement / letter from CPF

If You Don’t Have Acceptable Documents…

Y will have to submit an application for pre-notification letter to ICA via the Online Pre-Notification of Change of Address (OPAD) e-service for ICA to mail a letter to your new address within 7 working days. This can be used as the documentary evidence.

Within 14 days after receiving the letter, you may proceed to the following venues with your current IC and the letter to update the change of the address.

The Board will continue to pay 2.50% interest per annum for members’ CPF savings in their Ordinary Account (OA) from 1 July 2010 to 30 September 2010. The computed CPF interest rate derived from the major local banks’ interest rates for the three-month period, 1 February 2010 to 30 April 2010, worked out to be 0.41 % per annum. CPF Minimum Sum to be revised to $123,000 from July 1 2010

The Ministry of Manpower announced in August 2003 that the MS will be raised gradually to reach $120,000 (in 2003 dollars) in 2013.

The increase in MS, which includes an adjustment for inflation, is to ensure that Singaporeans set aside sufficient savings for their retirement. In line with this policy, from 1 July 2010, the prevailing CPF Minimum Sum (MS) will be revised to $123,000, up from $117,000. [Read more...]

Employer CPF Contribution Rate to Go Up By 1% to Help Workers Build Up Retirement Savings

The richest man, Ng Teng Fong is No. 1 again, worth $8 billion, $1 billion more than last year. Kuok Khoon Hong’s net worth is up $2.2 billion to $3.5 billion, thanks in part to a 70% jump in the stock price of palm oil firm Wilmar International.

The youngest one, Koh Wee Meng (rank 20; age 40), has a net worth of 360 million.
