Nominate Your Neighbour for HDB Good Neighbour Award

good-neighbourThe Good Neighbour Award is co-organised by Housing & Development Board, People’s Association, Citizens Consultative Committees, Constituency Consultative Management Committee and Residents’ Committee. Supported by the Singapore Kindness Movement and the Singapore Press Holdings, the Award aims to recognise residents who go the extra mile to be good neighbours.

Residents can show appreciation for their neighbour’s efforts in making the community a better one by nominating him/her for the Good Neighbour Award.

The nomination exercise will be from 1 May to 31 Aug 2009. Please download the nomination form for submission.

A guidebook [English and Chinese version (PDF, 2.54MB); Malay and Tamil version (PDF, 3.56MB)] for all residents with simple pointers on how to be closer to our neighbours, as well as the common do’s and don’ts of high-rise living.

HDB Launched Where2Shop@HDB Website

Senior Minister of State for National Development and Education, Ms Grace Fu, was the Guest-of-Honour at HDB’s inaugural retail seminar and launch of its new website, “Where2Shop@HDB”.

Where2Shop@HDB is a new website that provides comprehensive information about HDB shops in 148 Town / Neighbourhood Centres and Neighbourhood Complexes island-wide. Accessible via the HDB Infoweb at, it will make it easier and more convenient for residents and customers to search for products and services provided by heartland shops.

The main features of Where2Shop@HDB include the following:

  • Customers can search for popular products and services via quick links, e.g. eating house, supermarket, clinic, fast food, cake shop, hairdressing salon, market and food centres
  • It will provide the address, shop name, and trade of all HDB shops so that customers can search for them by town, address, shop name and trade
  • It will indicate the bus numbers in service and specific MRT/LRT stations near the Town / Neighbourhood Centres and Neighbourhood Complexes. A map is also provided to guide customers to the shops
  • It will highlight the available facilities in the vicinity and other interesting characteristics of the Town / Neighbourhood Centres and Neighbourhood Complexes, e.g. community clubs, schools, library, market and hawker centre, Government offices, places of worship, etc.

HDB Launched Fernvale Crest under Build-To-Order (BTO) System

HDB 2009 Q1 Public Housing Data

HDB Resale Market

HDB’s Resale Price Index (RPI) has fallen by 0.8% in 1st Quarter 2009 over the previous quarter. This comes after an increase of 1.4% in 4th Quarter 2008.

Resale transactions increased by 4.2%, from 6,186 cases in 4th Quarter 2008 to about 6,446 cases in 1st Quarter 2009. Compared to 1st Quarter 2008, the increase is slightly lower at 1.4%. [Read more...]

HDB is launching Champions Court in Woodlands

HDB is launching Champions Court in Woodlands under the Build-To-Order (BTO) System today. This is the first BTO launch for 2009 and the first time that Studio Apartments (SAs) are offered in Woodlands.

Champions Court is a Standard contract offering a total of 815 Standard flats. The flat supply comprises 224 units of SAs, 182 units of 3-room, 224 units of 4-room and 185 units of 5-room flats. About 50% of the flats are the smaller SAs and 3-room flats, in line with the government’s commitment to provide a greater supply of smaller flats this year. Households earning up to $5,000 a month can now look forward to more help to buy their first home. The Minister for National Development announced in Parliament today the details of the enhanced Additional CPF Housing Grant Scheme to help first-timers buy a home.

AHG is an additional subsidy over and above the regular market subsidy and CPF Housing Grant that new and resale flat buyers enjoy respectively. It offsets the purchase price of a new or resale HDB flat, thereby further reducing the loan a flat buyer needs to take. Do You Know Lease Buyback Scheme? New Monetisation Option

the-oldElderly flat owners can consider the new monetisation scheme that is announced by the Prime Minister on 19 August 2007 during the National Day Rally. The details of the scheme are being worked out and will be made known nearer the implementation date.

Under the new scheme, Lease Buyback Scheme (LBS), HDB will buy back the tail end of the lease of a 2-room or 3-room flat at market value from the elderly flat owners (aged 62 and above) who have enjoyed only one housing subsidy or none at all; leaving them with a shorter lease of 30 years on the same flat. HDB will Revise the Eligibility Criteria For Rental Flats

HDB will revise the eligibility criteria for rental flats to safeguard rental flats for the deserving, so that they are not crowded out by the less needy. Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow Tan announced this in Parliament today as part of a package of measures to enhance the rental housing safety net to help Singaporeans weather the economic downturn. He explained that,

It is necessary to safeguard rental flats as the final safety net for the truly needy even as we accelerate the building of more rental flats. This will ensure that the heavy subsidies are directed at the truly needy and they get help as quickly as possible.

Works to Begin at Punggol Waterway

A key part of the Remaking Our Heartland plans is the creation of an exciting, fun-filled waterway to realize the vision for Punggol as a waterfront town. The plans were first announced by the Prime Minister at National Day Rally in Aug 2007. HDB has launched more than 4,000 flats in Punggol in 2008. Works are set to begin for the waterway as HDB has awarded the construction of Punggol Waterway (Part 1) to Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering Contractor (Pte) Ltd at $144.6 million. HDB Launching Sunshine Court (CCK) & Punggol Regalia

HDB is launching two new housing projects, Sunshine Court (275KB) in Choa Chu Kang and Punggol Regalia (282KB) in Punggol, under the Build-To-Order (BTO) System. A total of 1,181 Studio Apartments (SAs), 3-room, 4-room and 5-room flats in Standard and Premium designs will be offered.

HDB Flat Application Rules Revised

HDB will introduce the following revisions to the HDB flat application process:

  • First-timer applicants who reject 2 chances to select a flat will have their First-timer priorities removed for a 1-year period in HDB’s sales exercises. This means that they will be treated like Second-timer applicants, and will no longer be able to ballot for the 90% of publicly available flats which HDB safeguards for First-timers. Details of the priorities they would not be able to enjoy in HDB sale exercises within that 1-year period are at Annex B.
  • Additional chances for repeatedly unsuccessful First-timers, i.e. those not invited to select a flat, will be limited to only BTO exercises in non-mature estates. No additional chance will be accorded if they participate in the BE or the Quarterly / Half-Yearly Sales Exercise, where the supply of flats is limited.
  • The additional chances will be accorded to First-timer applicants who had been unsuccessful twice (i.e. starting from the third try), instead of today’s practice where additional chances are only given starting from the fifth try. The number of chances for each scenario is illustrated at Annex C.

Bus Services Maps: Integrated Bus Travel Information

From 15 May 2008, commuters at six HDB towns will be able to access integrated bus travel information from new Bus Services Maps that will provide fast and convenient information on bus and train services.

The Bus Services Map is an easy-to-use reference that has detailed information on all trunk and feeder bus routes plying from and within towns. The maps show how the bus services connect with each other, as well as with MRT and LRT stations and other landmarks. To give commuters greater convenience, the routes of all public bus services in each town are featured in the maps to provide commuters with an overview of the bus
and train connections within the town.

To be displayed on 1-metre by 1-metre sized panels, the maps will be installed at 54 bus shelters as well as bus interchanges and selected MRT and LRT stations in six HDB townsWoodlands, Yishun, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Batok and Sembawang.
