Imported Malaysia vegetables and eggs price up

by Sally on November 17, 2009

Feeling spicy...According to CNA, continuous rainfalls have caused egg and vegetable imports from Malaysia to increase in price:

Egg prices have jumped four times since October but the rate of imports from Malaysia stays at three million eggs per day. This accounts for 75 per cent of the local supply of fresh eggs. Currently, a batch of ten eggs cost between S$1.30 and S$2.

No one likes it when the price goes up. But, this seems okay to me since I rarely buy vegetables or eggs recently; too busy.

via Property Report,

The price index dropped from 162.8 points in the last quarter to 139.9 points in the first quarter largely due to great price declines in the core central and rest of central regions, where the price index for both areas have fallen by 16.2 percent and 17.0 percent respectively.
