Forbes: Singapore’s 40 Richest 2009

ng-teng-fongThe total net worth of Singapore’s top 40 richest men is $39 billion, up 20% from last year’s $32 billion.

The richest man, Ng Teng Fong is No. 1 again, worth $8 billion, $1 billion more than last year. Kuok Khoon Hong’s net worth is up $2.2 billion to $3.5 billion, thanks in part to a 70% jump in the stock price of palm oil firm Wilmar International.

The youngest one, Koh Wee Meng (rank 20; age 40), has a net worth of 360 million.

Jackie Chan reportedly said of Singapore:

A lot of people are not like those in USA and Japan who voluntarily have self-respect. When you don’t have self-respect, the government will have to control you.

In Singapore, you have to abide by Singapore’s regulations. In China, you can litter, In Singapore, try littering and you will be jailed immediately.

This article compares the personal health practices among 3,302 male and 3,456 female Singapore residents aged 18 to 69 years who participated in the National Health Surveillance Survey (NHSS) 2007.

Survey findings from NHSS 2007 showed striking gender differences in health practices with females reporting overall better health behavior. They took greater conscious effort to achieve healthy nutrition such as limiting fat-intake and eating sufficient fruits and vegetables. [click to continue…]
