XP Quick Fix Plus is a tiny portable application that presents 40 quick windows XP fixes arranged in a push-button chart. Press the button for the problem you’re having like CDs not autoplaying, file associations grayed out, the boot.ini tab missing in MSCONFIG, or any of the other 40 common problems, and XP Quick Fix Plus will patch the registry key for the problem you’re having and get things back in working order.

I installed xpize last weekend and now my Windows XP looks much much better! xpize is a utility program for Windows XP (both 32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows Server 2003 (32-bit and 64-bit) that replaces most of the bits in Windows that didn’t match XP’s style with bits that do. Recuva (pronounced “recover”) is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. There are loads of free screen capture tools, but this is not another cheesy, spreadsheet-looking one. This one offers directness, ease of use, and does it with style.
You may ask, what’s wrong with Microsoft’s own Snipping Tool? It’s great, but unfortunately restricted to the Windows Tablet PC Edition, and some versions of Vista. Also, Snipping Tool fails to capture overlay windows (those translucent windows mostly used by desktop gadgets). [click to continue…]
