Four new studies by the University at Buffalo and Miami University of Ohio found that watching TV can drive away feeling of loneliness and rejection. The studies are reported in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology and suggest that watching TV provides viewers with the illusion that their social needs are being met.

StarHub is raising the ante in the pay TV war – it is rearranging its pricing plans, with new offerings and “upsized” options for its basic groups from May 30.
Customers can now add up to 14 additional channels through a new Basic Upsize tier for an extra S$5.35 per month. There is also a new basic group of lifestyle channels, bringing the total number of basic groups to seven.

The annual crackdown on people who have not paid their $110 TV licence is under way. Several thousand home owners who have not paid up so far will get a court summons, and if they ignore this, they risk arrest and fines of up to $40,000.
