No kidding! A Japanese man married his video game girlfriend this past weekend; wife Nene Anegasaki only exists in the Nintendo DS videogame Love Plus!
In a bizarre story reminiscent of the film Lars and the Real Girl, the man, known by his nickname SAL9000, fell in love with a fictional character from the Nintendo DS “love simulator” Love Plus.
Before the wedding, this man even took her video game girlfriend on a “honeymoon” to Guam. The reception included a priest, an MC, a DJ, speeches from friends and family, photo slideshows, wedding music and even a bouquet.
Men marry various girlfriends; but, marrying a video game girlfriend? I don’t get it. But, guess what “SAL9000” says?
Some people have expressed doubts about my actions, but at the end of the day, this is really just about us as husband and wife. As long as the two of us can go on to create a happy household, I’m sure any misgivings about us will be resolved.
About Love Plus
Love Plus includes three girls, allowing the player to take them out on dates and to interact with them in various ways to attempt to earn their love. Once you do, you’ve got a companion for life. It’s basically like Nintendogs, but it’s not illegal to take the relationship one step further.
I think the world is really full of surprises, don’t you think so?
