HDB is launching Punggol Residences under the Build-To-Order (BTO) system today. Punggol Residences is a Premium contract offering a total of 769 flats. The flat supply comprises 615 units of 4-room flats and 154 units of 5-room flats. Including this contract, HDB has offered about 6,500 new flats in Punggol since the unveiling of the Remaking Our Heartlands (ROH) plans for Punggol in Aug 2007. HDB Resale Market
HDB’s Resale Price Index (RPI) has fallen by 0.8% in 1st Quarter 2009 over the previous quarter. This comes after an increase of 1.4% in 4th Quarter 2008.
Resale transactions increased by 4.2%, from 6,186 cases in 4th Quarter 2008 to about 6,446 cases in 1st Quarter 2009. Compared to 1st Quarter 2008, the increase is slightly lower at 1.4%. [Read more…]

Households earning up to $5,000 a month can now look forward to more help to buy their first home. The Minister for National Development announced in Parliament today the details of the enhanced Additional CPF Housing Grant Scheme to help first-timers buy a home.
AHG is an additional subsidy over and above the regular market subsidy and CPF Housing Grant that new and resale flat buyers enjoy respectively. It offsets the purchase price of a new or resale HDB flat, thereby further reducing the loan a flat buyer needs to take. HDB will revise the eligibility criteria for rental flats to safeguard rental flats for the deserving, so that they are not crowded out by the less needy. Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow Tan announced this in Parliament today as part of a package of measures to enhance the rental housing safety net to help Singaporeans weather the economic downturn. He explained that,
It is necessary to safeguard rental flats as the final safety net for the truly needy even as we accelerate the building of more rental flats. This will ensure that the heavy subsidies are directed at the truly needy and they get help as quickly as possible.

HDB is launching two new housing projects, Sunshine Court (275KB) in Choa Chu Kang and Punggol Regalia (282KB) in Punggol, under the Build-To-Order (BTO) System. A total of 1,181 Studio Apartments (SAs), 3-room, 4-room and 5-room flats in Standard and Premium designs will be offered.
