Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings 2009 is an annual publication that ranks the “Top 200 World Universities”, and is published by Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). They have been running since 2004 and are broken down by subject and region.
years. The Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings 2009 show that institutions in Asian countries such as Hong Kong and Japan are growing in stature. Japan counts 11 institutions in the top 200 and Hong Kong has five institutions in the top 200, up from four last year. Malaysia returned to the top 200 with its Universiti Malaya entering at 180th place.
China replicated its standing from last year, with two institutions in the top 100 and a total of six in the top 200 university rankings 2009. And, Singapore counts 2 universities: Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is ranked 73 (from last year’s 77) and National University of Singapore (NUS) is still ranks 30th, the same as last year.
